Social by Heinz Beck is a major treat yourself location. Luckily I was invited for dinner through work but I will 110% be returning. Not only is the location in the Waldorf Astoria beautiful, the kitchen open, the restaurant team friendly and engaging but the food is amazing! Plus they easily accommodated my dairy allergy. …

The Farmers’ Market On The Terrace – Review
The Farmers’ Market On The Terrace should be more of a Dubai institution than it appears to be. Where else in Dubai can you get gorgeous, affordable, organic AND local produce? *crickets* I thought so. But in all seriousness this really is a place which is worth it to explore. By shopping here you are supporting local farmers, decreasing your carbon footprint and getting amazingly delicious organic produce for a lower price than the imported produce at other Dubai based grocery stores.

Menagerie – Review
This has been my second time at Menagerie and I am happy to come back and make it a third time as well. Menagerie is great for someone who is on a free from diet (especially gluten or dairy) as they have so many great gluten and dairy free options. There is something for everyone including those with a sweet or savoury tooth.

Organic Foods & Cafe – Review
The vegan brunch at Organic Foods & Cafe was fantastic and I am saying this as someone who is not a massive bruncher. I manage about 1 brunch every 1.5 years. So not very Dubai. The vegan brunch is the trifecta of absolutely fantastic value, dishes and beverages. The salads were fresh and varied and the hot dishes were a nice mix of east and west. As for desserts you had a choice of naughty treats and the healthier chia seed pudding and fresh fruits.

The Lime Tree Cafe – Review
A Dubai institution since 2001; The Lime Tree Cafe has three locations in Dubai. I use to only visit their Jumeirah location (which has lovely outdoor seating) but this morning I needed a coffee boost so I headed to Al Quoz. The vibe is similar to Jumeirah. Large vitrines show case their amazing fresh food selection, black boards with breakfast menu items listed and of course their massive drinks selection make for a rather pleasing little place; some people would even end that sentence with a #foodporn.

Under500 – Review
I am a major fan of Under500 and their phrase, “Great taste. No guilt.”, is so true. Their menu is diverse but grounded in one simple principle, eat healthy. There are options for the carnivores and the herbivores amoung us so everyone will be able to eat something AND still be delighted by their choice.
The latest thing I have tried at Under500 was their Ahi Tuna Poke (pronounced poh-kay … like okay with a p) Bowl which was a revelation and now I not only want to try the other two poke bowls they offer but also try other Dubai based poke bowls. Heck, I might even travel to Abu Dhabi for a poke bowl. Yes, they are that good.

via veneto osteria e cuicina – Review
I was invited for a preopening dinner at the brand new Via Veneto in Manzil Downtown. The bruschetta is 👍service was super friendly and helped me with choosing dairy free options. So don’t be shy and always ask when you go to a restaurant. Even Italian restaurants have dairy free options. Of course the options for your non dairy free friends are also abundant and delicious. My friends loved the burrata and vitello tonnato.
Atmosphere was also warm and laid back perfect for a date night, outing with friends or a place to fill up before heading out for the night. Because carbs.

Friends Avenue Café – Review
Wow what a delicious and massive breakfast a Friends Avenue Café in Cluster T JLT. If you are taking the metro get out at the Damac Metro station. It is less than a five minute walk away.
Over Ramadan they are open from 8am-8pm for dine in and take away. Get there early though as it fills up quickly. I had the chicken sandwich with potato wedges and my friend the scrambled eggs. The portions were massive. Make sure to either share or take half for another meal.
Prices are reasonable but there are not too many dairy free options though if you just want to drink a coffee or tea they have soya/almond milk and only charge AED3 extra for a hot drink and AED4 for a cold drink.
Check it out and support a locally based cafe!
