Dubai has been my home for over seven years now and there is one part of Dubai, more than any other, which draws me back. Dubai Creek is the place where Dubai started and grew from. Did you know that the city we know today was established as a fishing village in the early 18th century?

Social by Heinz Beck – Review
Social by Heinz Beck is a major treat yourself location. Luckily I was invited for dinner through work but I will 110% be returning. Not only is the location in the Waldorf Astoria beautiful, the kitchen open, the restaurant team friendly and engaging but the food is amazing! Plus they easily accommodated my dairy allergy. …
Low Waste + Sustainability
Having written before about low waste and zero waste here I figured it was a good idea to get back to basics. Part of a low waste lifestyle is following the Five Rs and having a couple of low waste hacks with you. Leading a low waste and sustainable life style does require some planning and life changes but it is attainable….
Why I am not Zero Waste
Zero waste is, in some circles, such a hot topic and rightly so. Going zero waste is good for the planet, your bank balance and also your sanity. There is one problem with it though; can we really be 100% fully zero waste? I really enjoy reading about other zero wasters, watching their youtube videos and in general discovering this life style for myself but sometimes I feel discouraged. Why I am not the perfect zero waster? Am I not zero waste enough? Why are my cupboards not filled with lovely mason jars?
Ps. you can skip to the bottom of the post to see the video 😉

Zero Waste February – The Dubai Edit
This February I will be exploring a zero waste approach to my Dubai life. Though I already try my best to use less I am interested to see how much I actually waste in a month. The end goal though is to waste as little as possible and keep a record of it.

Mindfulness + Money in Dubai
Dubai and saving money/being mindful about your money often do not end up in the same paragraph though isn’t that why many people come here? I recoginise that one should also enjoy life but you should also introduce some mindfulness. We are in Dubai after all.

Is eating healthy expensive?
Short answer? No! Not at all. Healthy eating and a healthy lifestyle can be as “cheap” and as expensive as you want to make it. Today I did my weekly shop and it came out to AED92. If you don’t live in the UAE that comes out to USD25, Euro20 or British Pounds19 for my weekly shop.
Obviously my diet is very heavy on fruit and vegetables and I rarely purchase meat so this does keep my grocery bill down. Note: My main source of animal protein comes from eggs and fish.
In this video I go through my weekly shop, how much everything costs, what I will use it for as well as what my staples at home are (yes I included tea as a staple …don’t judge!). I also give you some tips on grocery shopping with a healthy mindset as well as where you can get deals on health foods in the UAE (pssss. yes that means Organic Foods & Cafe has designated sale days).
Let me know if you have any questions and even suggestions.
Eat well, be well, be happy.

Keep your treats naughty AND nice with this tropical flavoured vegan pudding. Simple, easy ingredients that don’t break the bank help to dispel the myth that going healthy/vegan is expensive. Eating healthy is good for both the long and short term.

Menagerie – Review
This has been my second time at Menagerie and I am happy to come back and make it a third time as well. Menagerie is great for someone who is on a free from diet (especially gluten or dairy) as they have so many great gluten and dairy free options. There is something for everyone including those with a sweet or savoury tooth.

Organic Foods & Cafe – Review
The vegan brunch at Organic Foods & Cafe was fantastic and I am saying this as someone who is not a massive bruncher. I manage about 1 brunch every 1.5 years. So not very Dubai. The vegan brunch is the trifecta of absolutely fantastic value, dishes and beverages. The salads were fresh and varied and the hot dishes were a nice mix of east and west. As for desserts you had a choice of naughty treats and the healthier chia seed pudding and fresh fruits.
