Living a low waste lifestyle is not as difficult, complicated or (insert adjective here) as you may think or have been led to believe. A low waste lifestyle is about simplicity and being mindful about what you are bringing into your life AND how you are removing something from your life.

Low Waste + Sustainability
Having written before about low waste and zero waste here I figured it was a good idea to get back to basics. Part of a low waste lifestyle is following the Five Rs and having a couple of low waste hacks with you. Leading a low waste and sustainable life style does require some planning and life changes but it is attainable….
Why I am not Zero Waste
Zero waste is, in some circles, such a hot topic and rightly so. Going zero waste is good for the planet, your bank balance and also your sanity. There is one problem with it though; can we really be 100% fully zero waste? I really enjoy reading about other zero wasters, watching their youtube videos and in general discovering this life style for myself but sometimes I feel discouraged. Why I am not the perfect zero waster? Am I not zero waste enough? Why are my cupboards not filled with lovely mason jars?

The Farmers’ Market On The Terrace – Review
The Farmers’ Market On The Terrace should be more of a Dubai institution than it appears to be. Where else in Dubai can you get gorgeous, affordable, organic AND local produce? *crickets* I thought so. But in all seriousness this really is a place which is worth it to explore. By shopping here you are supporting local farmers, decreasing your carbon footprint and getting amazingly delicious organic produce for a lower price than the imported produce at other Dubai based grocery stores.

Easy Homemade Vegetable Broth
As part of my zero waste February I also decided to make an easy homemade vegetable broth. Making a homemade vegetable broth is simple, quick and a great addition to a zero waste lifestyle. Zero Waste February – The Dubai Edit
This February I will be exploring a zero waste approach to my Dubai life. Though I already try my best to use less I am interested to see how much I actually waste in a month. The end goal though is to waste as little as possible and keep a record of it.

Mindfulness + Money in Dubai
Dubai and saving money/being mindful about your money often do not end up in the same paragraph though isn’t that why many people come here? I recoginise that one should also enjoy life but you should also introduce some mindfulness. We are in Dubai after all.

Sustainable in Dubai – Eating
I love the idea of zero waste, sustainable and green living but implementing these practices in Dubai is sometimes easier said than done. So, in my own little way, I have been making changes to my own lifestyle and habits. Previously I had written about shopping from a sustainable perspective and now we are on to eating. Under eating I have included cooking, ordering food and eating out .
Let’s talk about the kitchen:
Did you know that food waste in the UAE is about 35% and even more over Ramadan? Eeep! So what can you do?

Sustainable in Dubai – Shopping
I love the idea of zero waste, sustainable and green living but implementing these practices in Dubai is sometimes easier said than done. So, in my own little way, I have been making changes to my own lifestyle and habits.
At first glance being sustainable in Dubai is not possible. We don’t have proper recycling pick up, no place to bring your PET bottles, and everything is only reachable by car. Right? Wrong … to a point. You also need to look at what you as a consumer are doing.
Let’s talk about shopping:
When I mean shopping I include both clothing and grocery shopping. Here are my tips:
